The Emergency Medical Services Division of the Woodside Fire Protection District is proud of the quality of services it provides for our District Residents. This medical team consists of twenty-three-licensed paramedics, twelve Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) and one Battalion Chief/Paramedic. All fire apparatus respond with a minimum of one EMT and one licensed paramedic. The District also staffs an ambulance with two licensed paramedics. The ambulance is part of a public private partnership with American Medical Response (AMR). Typical requests for medical assistance in the Woodside Fire District include diabetic emergencies, heart attacks, strokes, traumatic emergencies, and shortness of breath. This advance medical system has the capability of bringing the emergency room to your home or emergency. EMT's provide the necessary basic life support, making it possible for paramedic's to provide advanced life support. An EMT assists Paramedics with the administration of intravenous medications, and breathing treatments. We response to medical requests with an average response time of four minutes. Woodside's Fire District was one of the first fire based advanced life support services in San Mateo County; providing this service since 1994. Woodside Fire District offers emergency medical training for district residents and neighboring communities. We currently offer training in American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), adult, child and infant, American Red Cross CPR/First Aid, and forty hour First Responder training. We also offer infant car seat checks, Blood Pressure screening, the Vial of Life program, and an annual flu vaccination clinic.
